Atlas® LMA – Lawnmower & Equipment Adapter for 2-Post Lifts

The Atlas® LMA (Lawnmower Adapter) is a versatile accessory designed to work with most two-post above-ground lifts equipped with symmetric arms. This adapter allows users to safely lift and service mowers, small vehicles, and other equipment that cannot be supported by standard lift arms.

It is important to understand that the safe lifting capacity of the Atlas® LMA depends on your specific lift. Many two-post lifts are rated optimistically, meaning a “9,000 lb.” or “10,000 lb.” lift may, in practice, only have a true capacity of 8,000 lb. Since this weight is divided among four lift arms, each arm supports roughly 2,000 lb. When using the LMA, weight must be distributed evenly across both adapter plates to ensure safe operation.

For example, an 8,000 lb. lift equipped with the 600 lb. LMA effectively has a revised lifting capacity of 7,400 lb. The closer the LMA plates are positioned to the lift columns, the greater the system’s lifting capacity. Conversely, as the plates are moved outward toward the ends of the arms, capacity decreases.

When the LMA plates are extended to their widest spacing (90"), the effective lift capacity is reduced by approximately 3,000 lb. — bringing an 8,000 lb. lift down to 5,000 lb. of usable capacity. When positioned closer to the columns, the reduction is smaller — around 2,000 lb., allowing for a 6,000 lb. working limit.

Proper balance is also critical. For vehicles or equipment that are heavier on one end, position the heavier side closer to the column and extend the opposite plate further outward to maintain stability and achieve the necessary wheelbase fit.
