Full-Rise and In-Ground Scissor Lifts
A full rise scissor car lift lifts a vehicle about 6 feet or more, so you can stand underneath it like a 2-post or 4-post lift, but the bay stays open with no columns. Many full-rise lifts can be flush-mounted or installed in-ground so the platforms sit level with the floor when lowered, which gives a clean, drive-over bay.
How to Choose a Full-Rise Scissor Lift
- Installation: Surface-mount lifts like the Daytona LHS7 sit on the floor. In-ground and flush-mount lifts like the Atlas FM9SL, AMGO XL-9F and Katool KT-X95 need a recess in the floor. The Atlas SLP9K can be installed either way.
- Lift height: Our full-rise lifts reach about 72–88 inches. The AMGO XL-9F tops out at 87¾" and the Atlas SLP9K at 78".
- Capacity: 6,600–9,000 lb models handle cars, SUVs and light trucks. The AMGO AX-12 is a 12,000 lb heavy-duty full-rise lift.
- Low profile: Surface-mount lifts like the AMGO XL-7 (4½") and Atlas SLP9K (4") have a low lowered height for sports cars and lowered vehicles.
- Air and power: Some full-rise lifts use air-operated locks and need shop air, like the Katool KT-X95. Check the power and air requirements on each product page.

What is an in-ground or flush-mount scissor lift?
It's a scissor lift installed in a recess in the floor so the platforms sit level with the floor when lowered. You can drive or walk over the bay, and the lift disappears when it's not in use. It requires concrete work to create the recess, so plan for installation.
Can I stand under a full-rise scissor lift?
Yes. Full-rise scissor lifts raise the vehicle about 6 feet or more, so you can stand underneath to work on exhaust, transmissions and drivetrains.
Full-rise scissor lift or 2-post lift?
A full-rise scissor lift keeps the bay open with no columns and needs no overhead clearance. A 2-post lift usually costs less and leaves the wheels hanging free for wheel and brake work.
