Mid-Rise Car Scissor Lifts
A mid rise scissor car lift sits between a low-rise lift and a full-rise lift. It lifts a car high enough to reach the whole undercarriage while sitting on a creeper or stool, yet it needs no overhead clearance and very little floor space. That makes it one of the most popular lifts for home garages, tire shops and quick-service bays, and many models are portable.
How to Choose a Mid-Rise Scissor Lift
- Lift height: Our mid-rise lifts top out between about 38 and 60 inches. The Titan MRL-6000 reaches 60", the Atlas 6MR 53½" and the Titan SL-6600 51" with adapters.
- Capacity: 6,000–8,000 lb lifts cover most cars and SUVs. The AMGO MRL09 is rated 9,000 lb and can be surface- or flush-mounted.
- Portable or fixed: Most mid-rise lifts can be moved. See portable scissor lifts if you need to roll the lift out of the way. The Katool KT-X80 and KT-X85 can be used mobile or fixed.
- Drive-on or swing-arm: Drive-on lifts like the Katool KT-X77 and Atlas 7K-Kwik-Bay load fast. Swing-arm lifts like the Atlas 6MR and Tuxedo MR6K-48X reach a wider range of lift points.
- Lock release and power: Choose manual, pneumatic or electric lock release. Many mid-rise lifts, like the Daytona LMS6, run on a standard 110–120V outlet.

Most mid-rise scissor lifts raise a vehicle about 38–60 inches. That's high enough to work on brakes, suspension and the undercarriage from a stool or creeper, but not high enough to stand under the car.
Is a mid-rise scissor lift good for a home garage?
Yes. A mid-rise lift needs no overhead clearance, takes up little floor space and many models are portable, so it's a popular choice for home garages with lower ceilings.
Mid-rise or full-rise scissor lift?
Choose a mid-rise lift if you mainly work on wheels, brakes and suspension and want something portable. Choose a full-rise lift if you need to stand under the vehicle for exhaust, transmission and drivetrain work.
