Portable Car Scissor Lifts
A portable scissor car lift doesn't need to be bolted down. The lift rides on wheels or a dolly, and the power unit sits on its own stand or cart, so one person can move it into place, lift the vehicle and roll it away afterward. That makes a portable lift a good fit for home garages, tire and detail shops and any bay that has to do double duty.
How to Choose a Portable Scissor Lift
- Lift height: Portable mid-rise lifts raise a vehicle roughly 38–60 inches for brake, suspension and undercarriage work, like the Atlas 6MR (53½"), Titan MRL-6000 (60") and Katool KT-X66 (47"). Portable low-rise lifts like the AMGO LR06 and Atlas LR06 raise about 24 inches for wheel, tire and body work.
- Capacity: Most portable lifts are rated 6,000–8,000 lb, which covers most cars and SUVs. The AMGO LR10 offers 10,000 lb in a portable low-rise.
- Lock release: Choose a pneumatic release like the Katool KT-X80 if you have shop air, or an electric release like the KT-X85 or KT-X90E if you don't.
- Drive-on or swing-arm: Drive-on models like the Atlas 7K-Kwik-Bay and AMGO MRP06 use ramps that become part of the platform. Swing-arm models like the Atlas 6MR and Tuxedo MR6K-48X use arms and pads to reach the lift points.
- Power: Many portable lifts run on a standard 110V outlet. Some Katool models can run on 110V or 220V. Check each product page.

Does a portable scissor lift need to be bolted to the floor?
No. Portable lifts are designed to be used without anchoring and moved when you're done. You still need a flat, level, solid concrete floor, and you should follow the setup steps in each lift's manual.
Can one person move a portable scissor lift?
Yes. Portable lifts come with wheels, a tow bar or a dolly-mounted power unit so one person can roll the lift and power unit into position.
Will a portable scissor lift work in a low-ceiling garage?
Yes. Scissor lifts have no posts or overhead beams, so you only need enough height to raise the vehicle to the lift's top height. A mid-rise lift reaching about 4 ft is a good fit for many 8–9 ft garages.
