4-Post Car Lifts for Storage, Service and Heavy-Duty Work
A 4 post car lift supports the vehicle on two drive-on runways held up by four columns, so you simply drive on and raise it. Because the vehicle rests on its tires, a four-post lift is the easiest and most stable way to store a second car, do oil changes and exhaust work, or keep a project car up off the floor. Car Lift Direct carries 4-post lifts from Atlas, AMGO, Triumph, Katool, Titan, Tuxedo, Daytona and iDEAL, from 7,000 lb home storage lifts up to 40,000 lb heavy-duty truck lifts.
How to Choose the Right 4-Post Lift
- Use: Storage and parking lifts (7,000–9,000 lb) are built to park one vehicle above another in a home garage; see all 4-post storage and parking lifts. Service and commercial lifts (12,000 lb and up) are built for daily shop use, trucks and fleet vehicles.
- Lifting capacity: 8,000–9,000 lb handles most cars, SUVs and half-ton pickups. Choose 12,000–14,000 lb for heavier trucks and vans, and 16,000–40,000 lb for dually trucks, box trucks and commercial vehicles. See all heavy-duty 4-post truck lifts.
- Height and length: Extra-tall (XLT) and extra-long models give more clearance and longer runways for full-size trucks and SUVs. Compare the overall height and length on each product page with your garage.
- Portable or fixed: Many storage lifts come with or accept a caster kit, so you can roll the lift around the garage when it's not in use. See our portable 4-post lifts with casters included. Commercial lifts are typically anchored in place.
- Jacks and packages: A bridge jack or rolling jack lifts the wheels off the runways for brake, tire and suspension work. Or choose a 4-post lift package that includes jacks.
- Double-wide parking: Double parking lifts like the AMGO 409-DP have two parking levels and hold up to four vehicles.

4-Post Car Lift FAQs
How much does a 4 post car lift cost?
4-post lifts on our site currently range from about $2,700 to $25,400. Most 7,000–9,000 lb home storage lifts fall between about $2,700 and $5,000. Packages with bridge jacks, ALI certified lifts, alignment lifts and heavy-duty commercial lifts cost more. Financing is available through Approve and Shop Pay. What ceiling height do I need for a 4-post lift?
To park one vehicle over another, add the height of both vehicles plus the thickness of the runways and a few inches of clearance. Many home garages need about 11–12 feet or more. Extra-tall (XLT) models give more room for SUVs and trucks. Compare each lift's overall height and maximum rise on its product page with your ceiling and garage door opener.
Does a 4-post lift need to be bolted to the floor?
Many residential storage lifts are freestanding and can be moved with a caster kit. Commercial and higher-capacity lifts are typically anchored. Most lifts call for at least 4" of 3,000 PSI concrete. Always follow the installation manual for your model.
Can I work under a car on a 4-post lift?
Yes. The vehicle sits on its tires, leaving the underside open for oil changes, exhaust and transmission work. For brake, tire or suspension work, add a bridge jack or rolling jack to lift the wheels off the runways.
What's the best 4-post lift for a home garage?
For most home garages, an 8,000–9,000 lb storage lift is the best fit. Choose an extra-tall model if you park SUVs or trucks, add casters if you want to move the lift, and get a package with a bridge jack if you plan to do repairs.
What power does a 4-post lift need?
Many residential storage lifts run on standard 110V power, while larger commercial lifts often need 220V. The required voltage is listed on each product page.
Should I get a 4-post or a 2-post lift?
Choose a 4-post lift for vehicle storage, drive-on convenience and fluid service. Choose a 2-post lift if you mainly do repairs that need the wheels hanging free, like brakes, suspension and tires.
