4-Post Car Storage and Parking Lifts
A 4 post car storage lift raises one vehicle on drive-on runways so you can park a second vehicle underneath. Because the car sits on its tires, storage lifts are simple to use and are also handy for oil changes and light maintenance. Car Lift Direct carries 4 post parking lifts from Atlas, Triumph, Katool, Tuxedo, Titan, AMGO and Daytona for home garages, collectors, dealerships and storage facilities.
How to Choose a 4-Post Storage Lift
- Ceiling height: Add the height of the vehicle on top, the vehicle underneath, the runway thickness and a few inches of clearance. Many standard storage lifts fit garages with about 11–12 ft ceilings. Extra-tall models like the Atlas PRO8000EXT, Triumph NSS-8XLT and USA8000XLT, Titan SDPL-8000XLT, Tuxedo DX-XLT and Daytona LFPP10-XLT need more height but let you park an SUV or truck below. The Atlas PRO7000ST offers about 12 ft of clearance under the runways for very tall garages.
- Capacity: 7,000–8,000 lb lifts handle most cars and SUVs. 9,000–11,000 lb lifts like the Atlas PRO9000, Katool KT-4H950 and KT-4H110, Triumph NOS10000 and NSS-11, and Daytona LFPP10 give more margin for trucks.
- Length and width: Measure your garage and compare overall length and width on each product page. Short on length? The Triumph NSS-8SQ is about 2.5 ft shorter than a standard NSS-8.
- Double-wide parking: The AMGO 409-DP and 409-DPX have two parking levels and hold up to four vehicles (up to 6,000 lb per vehicle), which is ideal for collectors and dealerships.
- Extras: Many models include casters, drip trays and a jack tray. The ALI certified Atlas Apex 8 and Apex 9 add third-party certification.

What ceiling height do I need for a car storage lift?
Add the height of both vehicles, the runway thickness (usually about 4–5") and a few inches of clearance at the top. Many home garages need about 11–12 ft for two cars, and more to park an SUV or truck underneath. Check your garage door opener and track too.
Can I fit a 4-post lift in a 2-car garage?
Often, yes. Most storage lifts are about 9–11 ft wide including the power unit, so in many 2-car garages one fits in a single bay. Compare the overall width, length and height on the product page with your garage before you order.
Is it safe to store a car on a 4-post lift?
Yes, when the lift is lowered onto its mechanical safety locks. Storage lifts have locks at multiple heights, and you should always lower the lift onto a lock before parking underneath. Drip trays help keep fluids off the vehicle below.
Do storage lifts need to be bolted down?
Most residential storage lifts are freestanding and don't need to be anchored for storage use, and many include casters so you can move them. Most call for at least 4" of 3,000 PSI concrete. Follow the installation manual for your model.
