Quick answer: The best 2 post car lift for most home garages is the Titan HD2P-9KMSC ($2,450): 9,000 lb capacity, clear floor, asymmetric arms and 82¼ in of lift height in an 11–12 ft garage. For the best value, get the Katool KT-M110 ($2,099, 11,000 lb, 110V or 220V). For trucks, get the Atlas PV12PX ($5,249, 12,000 lb).

That's the short version. The right lift for you depends on your ceiling height, your heaviest vehicle and the power in your garage, so let's dig in.
I'm Kirby. I've run Car Lift Direct for 8 years, and I'm an engineer by training, which means yes, I read spec sheets for fun. I compared every 2-post lift we carry from Atlas, Titan, Katool, Triumph, AMGO, Tuxedo, Daytona and iDEAL to build this guide. These picks come from the specs, the value and what customers ask me about most. I won't pretend I've personally installed every one. If you'd rather browse first, here's our full lineup of 2 post car lifts.

How I Picked These Lifts
I compared every active 2-post lift in our store on the numbers that actually decide whether a lift works for you: capacity, max lift height, drive-through clearance (the space between the posts), required ceiling height, power (110V vs. 220V), and price plus shipping. I also weighed what customers ask me about most, which tells you a lot about what people trust.
The Best 2 Post Car Lifts, Reviewed
1. Titan HD2P-9KMSC Master Series: Best Overall for a Home Garage
- Price: $2,450
- Capacity: 9,000 lb
- Max lift height: 82¼ in
- Type: Clear floor, asymmetric arms
- Drive-through clearance: 100¾ in
- Ceiling needed: 11–12 ft
- Power: 220V single phase
Why I picked it: It's the 2-post lift customers ask me about more than any other, and the numbers back it up. Most 9,000 and 10,000 lb lifts we carry top out in the 70s, so 82¼ in of lift height gives you real standing room. The asymmetric arms set the car back on the lift, so the doors open without hitting a post.
Watch out for: 9,000 lb is a car and light-truck rating, so heavy three-quarter-ton and one-ton trucks need a 12,000 lb lift. Short on ceiling? The floor plate Titan HD2P-9KMSF ($2,350) is built for 9–10 ft ceilings.
2. Katool KT-M110: Best 2 Post Car Lift for the Money
- Price: $2,099
- Capacity: 11,000 lb
- Max lift height: 70¾ in
- Type: Clear floor, symmetric arms
- Drive-through clearance: 94½ in
- Ceiling needed: 11–12 ft
- Power: 110V or 220V (selectable)
Why I picked it: 11,000 lb of clear floor capacity for less than every 9,000 lb clear floor lift we sell. The selectable 110V/220V power is the sleeper feature: no 220V outlet in the garage? No new circuit needed. It also ships at a flat rate.
Watch out for: 94½ in between the posts is on the narrow side, so measure your widest vehicle, mirrors included. On a tighter budget? The Katool KT-H105 is our lowest-priced 2-post lift at $1,899 (10,000 lb, floor plate).
3. Katool KT-M120: Best Budget 2-Post Lift for Trucks
- Price: $2,599
- Capacity: 12,000 lb
- Max lift height: 70¾ in
- Type: Clear floor, symmetric arms
- Drive-through clearance: 117¾ in
- Ceiling needed: 13–14 ft
- Power: 110V or 220V (selectable)
Why I picked it: 12,000 lb, one of the widest stances we carry, and selectable 110V/220V power for $2,599. Sheesh, that's a lot of truck lift for the money.
Watch out for: It needs 13–14 ft of ceiling, which rules out most standard garages.
4. Atlas PV12PX: Best 2-Post Lift for Trucks
- Price: $5,249
- Capacity: 12,000 lb
- Max lift height: 72¼ in
- Type: Clear floor (overhead), symmetric arms
- Drive-through clearance: 109½ in
- Ceiling needed: 13–14 ft, or 12.5 ft on the low-height option
- Power: 220V single phase
Why I picked it: It's the other lift customers ask me about most, and the most-reviewed 2-post lift on our store. The low-height option lets it work in a 12.5 ft building, and it comes with a free 12-piece truck adapter set.
Watch out for: It costs about twice as much as the KT-M120, and it's more lift than you need for cars only.
5. Titan HD2P-12KMSC Master Series: Best for Wide Trucks
- Price: $5,300
- Capacity: 12,000 lb
- Max lift height: 74¾ in
- Type: Clear floor, installs symmetric or asymmetric
- Drive-through clearance: 119 in
- Ceiling needed: 12–13 ft
- Power: 220V single phase
Why I picked it: 119 in of drive-through clearance is the widest of my picks, about 10 in more than the PV12PX. You can install it symmetric for trucks or asymmetric for cars.
Watch out for: Wide posts need a wide bay. Check your floor against the 154⅞ in outside baseplate width.
6. Atlas 9KBPX: Best 2 Post Car Lift for Low Ceilings
- Price: $2,499
- Capacity: 9,000 lb
- Max lift height: 74½ in
- Type: Floor plate, symmetric arms
- Drive-through clearance: 101 in
- Ceiling needed: as low as 9 ft 6 in
- Power: 220V single phase
Why I picked it: Floor plate lifts run the cables across the floor instead of overhead, so the posts are shorter. The 9KBPX fits ceilings as low as 9 ft 6 in, has a dual-point lock release and ships at a flat rate.
Watch out for: You'll drive over the plate every time, and it gets in the way of rolling jacks. Other options: the Triumph NT-9 ($1,900) or our full low-ceiling 2-post lifts collection.
7. Atlas Platinum PVL10: Best ALI Certified 2-Post Lift
- Price: $5,049
- Capacity: 10,000 lb
- Max lift height: 72½ in
- Type: Clear floor, installs symmetric or asymmetric
- Drive-through clearance: 99½ in
- Ceiling needed: 11–12 ft
- Power: 220V single phase
Why I picked it: It's ALI certified, meaning it has been independently tested to the industry safety standard. That makes it the best 10,000 lb 2 post car lift here for a commercial shop. It also ships at a flat rate.
Watch out for: Certification costs extra. The AMGO OH-10 is also ALI certified and costs $4,530, the lowest price on any ALI certified 2-post lift we carry. See all ALI certified lifts.
8. Katool KT-M150D: Best Heavy-Duty 2-Post Lift
- Price: $4,299
- Capacity: 15,000 lb
- Max lift height: 72 in
- Type: Clear floor, symmetric arms
- Drive-through clearance: 116 in
- Ceiling needed: 14 ft+ (176.8 in overall height)
- Power: 220V single phase
Why I picked it: 15,000 lb for about $2,000 less than the other 15,000 lb lifts we carry. With 116 in of clearance, duallies and work trucks fit without drama.
Watch out for: At nearly 14 ft 9 in tall, it's a commercial-building lift. Need more capacity? The Triumph NTO-20S handles 20,000 lb ($9,395). Browse all heavy-duty 2-post lifts.
9. Triumph C7000: Best Portable 3.5 Ton 2-Post Lift
- Price: $2,945
- Capacity: 7,000 lb
- Max lift height: 69 in
- Type: Portable floor plate, symmetric arms
- Ceiling needed: 7–8 ft
- Power: 110V single phase
Why I picked it: It's the only portable 2-post lift we carry, and it solves problems the others can't: very low ceilings, no 220V, and wanting a lift you can remove (it uses recessed anchors). If you're looking for the best 3.5 ton 2 post lift, this is it.
Watch out for: 7,000 lb covers cars and small SUVs, not full-size trucks.

Why Choose a 2-Post Lift?
A 2-post lift picks the vehicle up by its frame on four swing arms, so the wheels hang free and the whole undercarriage is open. That makes it the go-to for brakes, suspension, tires, exhaust and drivetrain work. It also takes up less floor space than a 4-post lift. A 4-post lift makes more sense if your main goal is parking and storage, or quick drive-on oil changes.
How to Choose the Best 2-Post Lift for Your Garage or Shop
Picking a 2-post lift isn't hard. Picking the wrong one is really easy, though. Check these in order.
1. Ceiling Height (Measure First!)

This is the number one mistake I see. In our lineup, clear floor lifts need 11 ft to 14 ft or more, floor plate lifts start around 9–10 ft, and the portable C7000 works in 7–8 ft. Measure to the lowest obstruction: garage door rails, the opener, lights, beams. Then leave headroom for the vehicle on the lift.
2. Capacity
Buy for the heaviest vehicle you'll ever lift, not just the one you own today, and leave some margin:
- 7,000 lb (3.5 ton): cars and small SUVs
- 8,000 lb (4 ton): cars and small SUVs, like the Atlas BP8000
- 9,000–11,000 lb (4.5–5.5 ton): most cars, SUVs and half-ton trucks
- 12,000 lb (6 ton): three-quarter-ton and one-ton trucks, vans
- 15,000–20,000 lb (7.5–10 ton): heavy trucks, duallies and fleet vehicles
3. Clear Floor vs. Floor Plate
Clear floor (overhead) lifts run cables and hydraulic lines overhead, so the floor between the posts stays open for jacks and drain pans. Floor plate (baseplate) lifts run them under a plate on the floor, so the posts can be shorter. Go clear floor if you have the height, and floor plate if you don't.
4. Symmetric vs. Asymmetric Arms
Symmetric lifts center the vehicle between the posts, which is best for trucks and long, heavy vehicles. Asymmetric lifts set the car farther back so the doors open easily, which is best for cars. Some lifts, like the PVL10 and HD2P-12KMSC, can be set up either way.
5. Drive-Through Clearance
Measure your widest vehicle mirror to mirror. Among my picks, clearance runs from 94½ in (KT-M110) to 119 in (HD2P-12KMSC).
6. Concrete (Yes, the Engineer Is Going to Talk About Concrete)

Your lift is only as strong as what it's bolted to. As general guidance, plan on at least 4 in. of 3,000 PSI concrete, and expect heavier lifts to need more. Don't anchor near cracks or slab seams, and find out what's under your floor before the lift shows up. Always follow the install manual for your specific lift.
7. Power
Most 2-post lifts run on 220V single phase, which most home garages and small shops can get. No 220V where the lift is going? Look at the Katool KT-M110, KT-M120 or Triumph C7000, or budget for an electrician.
Safety Features to Look For
A 2-post lift holds thousands of pounds over your head, so this is the section not to skim:
- Mechanical safety locks: Locks engage in the columns as the lift rises. Always lower the lift onto the locks before you work under it, rather than leaving the load on the hydraulics.
- Lock release: A single-point or dual-point release (like on the Atlas 9KBPX) lets you release both sides from one spot. Some lifts, like the KT-M110, have a manual release on each side.
- Automatic arm restraints: These keep the swing arms from shifting once they're loaded. Several Atlas models include them.
- Overhead safety shut-off: On clear floor lifts like the KT-M120, this stops the lift before a tall vehicle hits the overhead bar.
- ALI certification: ALI certified lifts have been independently tested to the ANSI/ALI safety standard. You can learn more from the Automotive Lift Institute. For a commercial shop, I'd treat it as a must. For a home garage, it's a nice-to-have.
Installation and Maintenance Basics
Installation: Plenty of owners install their own 2-post lift with a helper and the right equipment, since the posts are heavy and awkward to stand up. Follow the manufacturer's manual exactly, especially the concrete, anchor bolt and torque requirements. Have an electrician run the circuit if you need one. If you have any doubt, hire a professional lift installer. This is not the place to wing it.
Maintenance: Before each use, check that the locks engage on both sides and the arms and pads are in good shape. Periodically inspect the equalizer cables, pulleys, hydraulic hoses and fluid level, and re-check anchor bolt torque. The industry standard also calls for a yearly inspection by a qualified lift inspector, which is a must for commercial shops.
Who Makes the Best 2 Post Car Lift?
No single brand wins every category. Here's where each brand on this list stands out, based on what we carry:
- Atlas: The widest range, from 8,000 lb home lifts to the 15,000 lb ALI certified Platinum PVL15, with flat-rate shipping.
- Titan: The Master Series leads on lift height (82¼ in on the 9,000 lb models) and width (119 in on the 12,000 lb model).
- Katool: Strong value for the capacity, with several 110V/220V-selectable lifts.
- Triumph: Covers both ends, from the portable 110V C7000 to the 20,000 lb NTO-20S.
We also carry AMGO, Tuxedo, Daytona and iDEAL. Compare them all in our 2-post lift collection, or see our 2-post lift packages.
What About the Best 2 Post Car Lift Made in the USA?
Honest answer: none of the 2-post lifts we carry are made in the USA. The US-made lifts in our store are 4-post lifts, like the Triumph USA8000. In my opinion, the engineering and testing behind a lift matter more than where it was built, and that testing is exactly what ALI certification checks. If a US-made 2-post lift is a must for you, reach out and I'll tell you what I can find.
2-Post Car Lift Reviews: What Our Customers Say
I'd rather show you a few real reviews than pad the numbers. Here's what verified buyers have posted on our store so far:
- Atlas PV12PX: two reviews, both 5 stars. One praised the communication, build quality and fast delivery. The other said the lift "showed up faster than expected."
- Katool KT-M110: one review, 5 stars.
- Atlas PV10PX: one review, 4 stars.
Shipping, Pickup and Financing
- Flat-rate shipping: Atlas, Katool and Triumph lifts ship at a fixed flat rate, shown on the product page.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best 2-post car lift for a home garage?
For most home garages with 11–12 ft ceilings, the Titan HD2P-9KMSC ($2,450). It has 9,000 lb capacity, asymmetric arms and 82¼ in of lift height. Under 10 ft, look at a floor plate lift like the Atlas 9KBPX. Under 8 ft, or without 220V, look at the portable Triumph C7000.
What brand of car lift is best?
It depends on what you need. Atlas has the widest range and ALI certified options, Titan leads on lift height and width, Katool is strong on value, and Triumph offers the only portable 2-post lift we carry. Pick the lift that fits your space and vehicles, then compare brands within that size.
How much does a 2 post car lift cost?
On our store, 2-post lifts run from $1,899 to $12,799. Most home-garage lifts (9,000–11,000 lb) cost $1,899–$2,500. Truck and ALI certified shop lifts start around $5,000. Budget extra for freight, installation and any electrical or concrete work.
How tall of a garage do I need for a 2 post lift?
Plan on 11–12 ft for most clear floor lifts and 12–14 ft or more for 12,000–15,000 lb lifts. Floor plate lifts can work in about 9 ft 6 in to 10 ft, and the portable C7000 in 7–8 ft. Measure to the lowest obstruction, like the garage door opener.
How thick should concrete be for a 2 post car lift?
As general guidance, at least 4 in. of 3,000 PSI concrete, with no cracks or seams where the posts anchor. Heavier lifts often need thicker or stronger concrete, so always check the install manual for your exact lift.
Is a 9,000 lb 2-post lift enough for a truck?
For most half-ton pickups, yes. For three-quarter-ton and one-ton trucks, step up to a 12,000 lb lift like the Katool KT-M120 or Atlas PV12PX. For a 3.5 ton (7,000 lb) lift like the C7000, stick to cars and small SUVs.
Can a 2-post lift run on household 110V power?
Some can. The Katool KT-M110 and KT-M120 are selectable 110V/220V, and the Triumph C7000 runs on 110V. Most other 2-post lifts need a 220V single-phase circuit.
Can I install a 2 post lift myself?
Many owners do, with a helper and the right equipment. Follow the manual exactly, especially the concrete and anchor bolt requirements, and use an electrician for any new circuit. If you have doubts, hire a professional installer.
What is the safest car lift for a home garage?
Any properly installed lift used with its mechanical locks engaged, sized for your heaviest vehicle. For extra peace of mind, choose an ALI certified lift like the Atlas Platinum PVL10 or AMGO OH-10, which have been independently tested to the industry safety standard.
Can I finance a 2-post lift?
Yes. We offer financing through Approve, and you can split eligible purchases into payments with Shop Pay at checkout.
The Bottom Line
The best 2 post car lift is the one that fits your ceiling, your floor, your power and your heaviest vehicle. For most home garages, that's the Titan HD2P-9KMSC. On a budget, it's the Katool KT-M110. For trucks, it's the Atlas PV12PX. Compare every model in our 2-post car lift collection. Still not sure? Send me your ceiling height, slab thickness and what you plan to lift, and I'll help you narrow it down.
